Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show

http://www.edinburghcharityfashionshow.org/

The Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show (ECFS) has annually provided students with an incredible production that offers a cohesion of fashion, art and music to raise money for UK based Charities. This year they are raising money to support The Rock trust.

The ECFS is currently the UK’s most successful student run fashion show. They aim to ensure that the campaign is not just about fashion, instead it is something accessible to all and is focussed on balanced collaboration.

The committee this year is made up of twenty-two members and is comprised of enthusiastic creative and fashion directors, dedicated events and front of house officers and professional bloggers, publicity and production teams, with student volunteers along the way too.

Contextual Overview

The ECFS is currently the UK’s most successful student run fashion show. They aim to ensure that the campaign is not just about fashion, instead it is something accessible to all and is focussed on balanced collaboration.

The Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show (ECFS) has annually provided students with a production that offers a cohesion of fashion, art and music to raise money for UK based Charities. This year they are raising money to support The Rock trust.

The Rock Trust works in Edinburgh and the Lothians with young people between the ages of 16- 25 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Their role is to advise, educate and support young people. The Rock Trust aim to enable young people to build the personal skills and the resources required to make a positive and healthy transition to adulthood, while avoiding or moving on from homelessness.

After the success of last years show, the ECFS committee is turning its look upside down and will focus on a more industrial aesthetic. The theme this year celebrates the urban city centre of Edinburgh. Inspired by the materials and textures that we live within and around. The ECFS team want to convey a fresh and raw dimension that is rustic yet also classic and pure.

Job Solutions

The aim of the theme “Urban Conscious” is to create a campaign that reclaims elements of the student experience in Edinburgh, as well as current editorial trends.

Models

Each year the ECFS casts around 30 models that are used for shows throughout the year and for the runway at the final show. The ECFS allocate a model/models from this selection for the photographer for the shoot with regards to my preference.

Styling & Clothing

All shoot styling will be managed by the ECFS in house fashion team. When the ECFS have received a shoot proposal, this is passed on to the fashion team who pull clothing to suit the model(s) and vision. These stylists can be on set to style during the shoot. Shoots for specific designers will be managed separately.

The ECFS make use of young designers, boutique brands and students. The clothes are urban, bold, comfortable, casual and daring and can be worn for work and/or play.

Location(s)

Shoots this year are required to all take place within a setting comprised of strong urban elements; No plants! No Nature!

Textures like; metal, brick, concrete, tarmac etc.

Location theme words are; industrial, familiar, hang outs, local, urban decay, modern, minimal.

Potential locations to pitch include; ECE Bowling Alley, Saughton Skate Park, Edinburgh University Courtyard, Fountain Park Carpark, Sainsbury’s warehouse in Gorgie.
